Photo Tours

The purpose of these workshops is to visit and explore some extremely photogenic areas in small groups and to impart knowledge of photography, its processes and techniques, to meet the needs and interests of the participants.

The tours will be restricted to small groups of four or five.  This will allow us to easily explore and reach areas of interest that large buses can’t accommodate, and to be sufficiently flexible to make changes as we go to meet the needs and interests of the participants.  The small group also allows a lot of attention to be paid to the particular photographic challenges of each participant.  Beyond the long days, there will be restful times to enjoy the local environment, the people, and the food.

A major part of each tour is to increase the participant’s photographic capability to help assure that the images one brings back from the tour (and that will be taken in the future) are of a higher quality than they would otherwise have been.  We will explore: techniques for selecting, crafting, and improving an image; the camera its capabilities and controls; and processing and presenting the final image.  This will be accomplished through field sessions, discussions, and demonstrations.  The approach is to purposely allow time to photograph in each locale identifying photographic opportunities, discussing the options, learning about the light and metering, and, as much as practical, to do this under optimum lighting conditions.  We will experience a diversity of light, and will sometimes work from early morning till dusk.

If interested in any of the following tours, either by putting a small group together or by joining one, please contact Elliot Framan.
