Workshop Fee - 3 days, $575

Enjoy photographing a wide range of subjects in scenic central New Mexico and receive comprehensive instruction in using your Digital SLR.  This three day workshop for small groups combines the excitement of field shooting, every day, with a learning process to make the participant comfortable and confident with their DSLR.

We will visit the scenery of the Jemez mountains, a photogenic art colony, an early New Mexico ranch, a nature reserve, and Old Town Albuquerque.  There are lots of varied subjects to shoot which gives us the opportunity to increase the scope of the individual’s capability.  There will be instruction both in the field and in a class setting.  The first morning is devoted to the details of shooting and shooting procedures to prepare everyone for the field trips.  This material is reinforced in the field with personal instruction.  In the evenings after dinner we will continue with the presentation of material to help with the shooting and to better understand the camera and its workings.

In shooting we will discuss the use of aperture priority, shutter priority, and ISO.  The histogram, which evaluates the shot, is explained as to what it is and how to use it.  The exposure compensation control is discussed as to its use in case a correction to the exposure is required.  Many additional topics are covered including shooting for landscape or action, autofocus, manual focus, and live view, lenses, composition, shooting procedures, filters, effects of lenses on depth of field and exposure time and perspective, metering options, JPEG and RAW formats, the sensor and its workings, lighting, perspective, and much more.

This is a comprehensive learning and shooting experience providing the participants with expertise in using their cameras and a collection of quality images to take back with them, all done in a fun filled three day adventure.
