About Elliot Framan Photography
My Photography Workshops and Tours allow me to share my experience and knowledge in photography with those interested in learning more about digital photography and working in this exciting medium. The lessons I have learned, and will present, will save the participant time and prevent many false starts.
The workshops provide instruction in digital photography from basic material to more advanced fine tuning techniques. Some are held on local ranches to provide a broader range of things to photograph. They also include work on preparing for a vacation. Another workshop is devoted to getting the participant up and running with Photoshop and will provide the ability to develop and print the images to their full potential. These workshops cover all aspects of digital photography from viewing the scene to be photographed to the final presentation. All workshops utilize lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and field trips to locally scenic locations, assuring full understanding by the participants.
The tours go to extremely photogenic places where there is a combination of instruction in photography and applying this knowledge in real and exciting locations. In addition we get to explore the locale of the tour, bask in the ambience and sample the local foods. Discussions continue after dinner so that it is a photographically full time.
The focus of each workshop and tour is to immerse ourselves in photography, learn from each other, and have fun doing it. The workshops are held either in Corrales, NM (a small village with a rural atmosphere) or at local ranches. The tours are either in the New Mexico area or in Europe and all are kept small where more attention can be devoted to the needs of each participant.
About Elliot Framan
Elliot Framan has been photographing for over 35 years and his work includes images taken throughout the United States, Europe, Central America, Israel and Ecuador/the Galapagos. His focus is primarily on fine art and travel photography but includes commercial images. Initially working with color images, he later switched to black and white film photography using medium and large format cameras. He studied with many name black and white photographer/printers including George Tice, Ted Orland, John Sexton, and Alan Ross (the latter three having learned from, developed under, and assisted Ansel Adams).
With the advent of digital photography, he has embraced this new technology returning color images into his portfolio. Although the tools of the trade may change, photographic techniques and processes have not changed. His activities include the entire photographic process from capturing the image to generating the final print, and it is this knowledge of the overall process that he enjoys sharing with participants in his workshops and tours, saving them the time and effort of having to learn it all on their own.
Elliot’s work includes travel photography, landscapes, documentaries, portraits, and contemporary studies. He particularly looks for human interest, drama, lighting, and historical sites. His work has been in many juried art shows and one-man exhibitions and is in private collections. In his commercial work, many color digital images have appeared on magazine covers and in magazine articles.
